Knoxville, Tenn. – SmartBank has announced the addition of Joseph “Joe” Hamdi to its team in Knoxville. Hamdi will oversee and lead the bank’s efforts in Knox County as Market Executive.

Hamdi most recently served as the Executive Vice President & Chief Lending Officer for Foothills Bank & Trust. In November 2018, SmartFinancial, Inc., parent company of SmartBank, completed the acquisition of Foothills Bancorp’s wholly owned bank subsidiary, Foothills Bank & Trust where Hamdi had been since 2009.

“During his time at Foothills Bank & Trust, Joe had an outstanding track record of serving the bank’s clients and developing strong relationships in the community,” said Mike Honeycutt, SmartBank Regional President. “He is the perfect example of a relationship-based banker and we are confident in his ability to lead our team in Knox County.”

Hamdi earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in finance from the University of Tennessee. He also received graduate degrees from the University of Colorado’s Graduate School of Banking and the University of Oklahoma’s Graduate School of Commercial Lending.
