Cynthia Cain, Vice President, Director of Financial Planning & Analysis
Knoxville, Tenn. – SmartBank recently announced the promotion of Cynthia Cain to Executive Vice President and Director of Financial Planning & Analysis.
As an Executive Vice President and the Director of Financial Planning & Analysis, Cain oversees the accounting and finance department at SmartBank and plays a key role in financial reporting as well as forecasting and budgeting which provides valuable input to the banks’ strategic planning process.
“Cynthia has been instrumental in streamlining our processes, and creating efficiencies that support our strategic initiatives,” said Billy Carroll, President and CEO of SmartBank. “Her expertise and knowledge in the realms of financial planning, analysis, and acquisitions have played a significant role in developing innovative growth strategies for the Bank.”
Cain has more than 25 years of experience in accounting, financial operations, business analysis, process improvements, and program implementation. Prior to arriving at SmartBank in 2019, Cain served as SVP in the accounting department at South State Bank in Columbia, SC. During her tenure at South State, Cain had extensive involvement with accounting operations, financial reporting, mergers and acquisitions, stress testing, and strategic planning.

Cain received her bachelor’s degree in accounting from Murray State University in 1995. She is an advocate and supporter of the Alzheimer’s Association.
