Pigeon Forge, Tenn. – January 6, 2012 – SmartBank, a subsidiary of SmartFinancial, Inc., proudly celebrates its 5th Anniversary. The Bank’s banner year signifies a stable and healthy investment for its shareholders. The Pigeon Forge based bank remains the only locally-owned Bauer Five-Star Bank in the county. For the last 4 consecutive quarters, SmartBank has been awarded the coveted rating by BauerFinancial. BauerFinancial is an independent bank rating firm. To earn Bauer’s 5-Star Superior rating, the Bank must excel in areas of capital adequacy, delinquent loan levels and profitability to name just a few.
“As SmartBank approaches this 5 year mark, we are celebrating more than being named one of the strongest banks in the country,” said Billy Carroll, President and CEO of SmartBank. “We are excited about the dynamic culture we are creating. We have a hard-working team of energetic Associates and Directors who are fully committed to The SmartBank Way and to our clients and shareholders. It’s been a lot of work over the past 5 years, but it’s been a lot of fun to work with such a high-energy team that shares the same passion!”
SmartBank evolved in January 2006 when local long-time executive bankers, Bill Carroll and Billy Carroll decided to start the process of creating a new bank. The picture soon became clearer when six more successful business leaders joined in the efforts of organizing SmartBank. These organizers who currently serve on the Board of Directors of SmartBank are David Ogle, Ted Miller, Vic Barrett, Keith Whaley, Geoff Wolpert and Greg Davis.
SmartBank credits growth to the loyalty its shareholders and clients have shown along with the well respected and trustworthy leadership team piloting the organization.
“I am very pleased with the Bank’s growth and performance these first five years, and am extremely thankful for the support shown by my fellow directors, associates, shareholders and clients,” said Chairman of the Board, Bill Carroll. “With the experience and talent we have on our team along with the strategic plans we are developing, I am confident that the next five years will prove as successful as the first five.”
