September 14, 2016 – SmartBank’s Sevier County Market Executive, Bobby Castle, along with Consumer and Small Business Lender, Gus Floodquist, presented a $7,500.00 check to Great Smoky Mountains Association at the GSMNP’s headquarters yesterday. Castle stated, “SmartBank is thrilled to partner with GSMA whose mission of promoting environmental awareness through education, interpretation and research aligns with our own mission of protecting the greatest assets in the communities we serve.”
Each time a SmartBank debit card holder performs a signature-based transaction, they are helping contribute to the donation given to GSMA. Kelley Fowler, Senior Vice President, Marketing and Public Relations Officer for SmartBank said, “Since the program’s inception in May of 2009, we have seen a steady increase in our donation numbers – which has been very exciting for us! So far, we’ve been able to donate over $53,000 to GSMA through our Park Partners Program which benefits the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.”
Laurel Rematore, GSMA Executive Director said, “Great Smoky Mountains Association is so appreciative of this $7,500 contribution. SmartBank’s generosity enhances our ability to fulfill our educational mission. These donations, totaling more than $53,000 since 2010, have allowed us to create new publications and offer unique programs such as operating historic mills that inspire and engage countless Great Smoky Mountain National Park visitors every year. Thank you, SmartBank, for investing in our success!” Great Smoky Mountains Association was founded in 1953 as a nonprofit organization to support the educational, historical, and scientific programs of the park. It is a publisher of information on the Smokies, an operator of bookstores in the park, and a membership organization. Proceeds from these activities go directly to park projects.
