On November 1st, SmartFinancial, Inc., Knoxville, Tennessee (“SmartFinancial”) (Nasdaq: SMBK), parent company of SmartBank, announced the completion of its previously-announced acquisition of Foothills Bancorp, Inc., Maryville, Tennessee (“Foothills Bancorp”), and Foothills Bancorp’s wholly owned bank subsidiary, Foothills Bank & Trust. Effective November 1, 2018, Foothills Bancorp has been merged with and into SmartFinancial, and Foothills Bank & Trust has been merged with and into SmartBank. Based on financial data as of September 30, 2018, the combined company has total consolidated assets of approximately $2.3 billion. Greg Davis joins SmartBank as Chief Lending Officer

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. – Billy Carroll, President & Chief Executive Officer of SmartBank announced today the first management member to join the new bank. Greg Davis will be the bank’s Executive Vice President & Chief Lending Officer.

“Greg has a great reputation and the kind of passion for the Sevier County community that we are looking for as we develop our team at SmartBank. His experience and knowledge of our market will be a great asset that will help jump start the bank the moment we open our doors.”

Davis, a Sevier County native, started his career with the Tennessee Department of Financial Institutions as a bank examiner and following that worked for Citizens Bank of Blount County as a loan officer. Most recently, he was with BB&T as a City Executive responsible for commercial lending in Sevier County.

“I am excited about joining this special group in starting a new banking venture in Sevier County. With the experience, expertise and reputation of Bill and Billy Carroll, it is an opportunity of a lifetime for me. I’ve known the board and have great admiration for them, also. I look forward to serving the community with great optimism in my role as Chief Lending Officer,” said Davis.

The organizers of the bank plan to submit their notice of intent to establish the new bank with the Tennessee Department of Financial Institutions in the coming weeks, and following approval of the notice will begin soliciting investors for the bank’s common stock.
